The Stressless® plant in Ikornnes is one of Norway's most automated manufacturing facilities.

The product area comprises 32 chair models and 12 Stressless® sofa models. At the end of 2006, production capacity within this product area was about 1,550 seat units per day. In 2006, an average of 1,515 seat units were produced each day.

Sales revenues for this product area rose by 16.6 per cent to NOK 1,997.3 million in 2006.

Production

Stressless® products are manufactured at three plants. The Stressless® chair collection as well as steel and foam components for other parts of the collection are manufactured at the main production facility in Ikornnes, Sykkylven.

The Stressless® sofa collection is produced at the Vestlandske (J.E. Ekones AS) and Hareid (Ekones Møbler AS) units.

A project was started in 2006 to install an internal transport system both in the Vestlandske facility and at the Hareid plant. These installations will increase internal transport efficiency and improve production monitoring and control.

This transport system has already been installed and put to use at the Ikornnes plant and at Ekornes Møbler AS, Stranda division. A total of NOK 58.6 million was invested in machinery and equipment in 2006 to streamline production further.
